Growing up in Walla Walla, Washington, Wendy settled in Sandpoint in 1993. She studied Biology at the University of Oregon, and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Oregon Health Sciences University. Her nursing career included working in obstetrics at University Hospital in Portland, Oregon, and in pediatrics at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. Motherhood was a full time job for many years. Once her children transitioned to college, she became the Medical Home Project Manager for Family Health Center in Sandpoint. She also volunteers with the North Idaho Medical Reserve Corp.
Wendy served as President of the PAFE Board of Directors from 2009-2011 and Chairman of the Teacher Grants Committee from 2004-2023. Wendy stepped down from the Board of Directors in 2023 and joined the Emeritus Board in 2024.
Wendy and her husband Scott raised four children, all of whom attended the Lake Pend Oreille School District and graduated from SHS. Wendy’s involvement with the school district includes being a member of various PTAs, the former Site Council, the health and math curriculum committees, and a facilities committee. She also volunteered with the school nurse administering immunizations and teaching health education. In addition, Wendy has spent many hours volunteering with local youth, including coaching swimming, t-ball, soccer, basketball and volleyball. Her free time is spent water and snow skiing, scuba diving, boating, and traveling.
