David Slaughter is a fourth-generation lumberman who has lived in northern Idaho since 1984. He moved here from Dallas. Slaughter is a graduate of Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. His lumber experience includes 16 years in wholesale distribution, Slaughter Brothers, Inc. in Dallas, and Slaughter Wholesale, LLC in Sandpoint, and 25 years in manufacturing at J.D. Lumber in Priest River. He and his wife, Debbie, are the parents of two boys, both college graduates, the youngest of whom was educated in the Lake Pend Oreille School District.
Since moving to Idaho, David has served on the boards of The Festival at Sandpoint, Bonner County Economic Development Corporation, Idaho Community Foundation, and, currently, Panhandle Alliance for Education. His passion for the education of children has merged well with each of these organizations. Having grown up in a large metropolitan area, David has been excited about being able to “get involved and make a positive difference” in Sandpoint and Bonner County. He is most excited when our local schools, with the alliance’s help and support, are able to extend the excitement of learning.
