Shawn Woodward was appointed the superintendent of Lake Pend Oreille School District July 1, 2012. Prior to becoming superintendent, he was assistant superintendent of the North Kitsap School District, in Poulsbo, Washington. Shawn began his career as an elementary teacher in Port Orchard, Washington. Over the course of seven years as a teacher, he taught at both the elementary and junior high levels. In 1999, he became a principal in the Burlington-Edison School District, in Burlington, Washington. He was a principal in two different K-8 schools over a nine-year period. Shawn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington State University; a master’s degree in education from City University; principal certification from Seattle Pacific University; and superintendent certification from Western Washington University, where he also taught a leadership class for prospective school principals. He is married, with three children, all of whom attend schools in the Lake Pend Oreille School District. In their spare time, the Woodward family loves to hike, run, ski and play in the mountains surrounding northern Idaho.
