Pierce was born in Pasadena, California and grew up in the area. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California. Professionally he has a background in accounting and finance, working at Hughes Aircraft Company for 28 years in several different locations in California and Arizona at various divisions and the corporate offices, developing new skills as his positions changed. He was “acquired” by The Boeing Company which purchased the satellite business of Hughes, and was with Boeing for five years before retiring in 2005.
In October 2000 he welcomed an Indonesian student, Mohammed Holil, to study in the U.S. at a community college for a year. His student quickly became a member of the family, and is now considered Pierce’s “son.” Holi stayed on to get his AA, a BA from USC and a Masters from the University of Denver. Holi became a U.S. citizen in 2016 and lives in southern California.
Pierce moved to Sandpoint in 2009, attracted by the beautiful surroundings, and even more so by the strong sense of community, the generosity of the individuals that make up the community, and the support for our institutions. He joined the Rotary Club of Sandpoint in 2009 and is a past president of the club. He is the treasurer of the Sandpoint Community Resource Center, and volunteers at the Senior Hospitality Center in Bonners Ferry, offering accounting services two days a week. He is also the official advisor of the Interact Club at SHS.
Pierce has always had a deep appreciation for education, and has supported and encouraged it throughout his adult life.
