The Endowment Fund

This is our investment in the future of the Lake Pend Oreille School District, and an excellent choice for donors who wish to establish a charitable remainder trust or make a major gift now or through their estate plan. The Endowment Fund is managed by the Idaho Community Foundation (ICF) under a contract with the Panhandle Alliance. ICF manages millions of dollars on behalf of non-profit organizations throughout Idaho, providing a secure place for donor gifts. Under our contract, ICF will return a fixed percentage of income to the Panhandle Alliance each year for its various grant programs.

The Annual Fund

If you prefer that your donation is applied to grants over the next two years, the Annual Fund is the perfect choice as it supports the Panhandle Alliance's various grant programs. All money donated to the Annual Fund goes to help children. Grants are made annually, consistent with the Mission of the Panhandle Alliance for Education. Review teams carefully consider grant applications to ensure that community donations supplement, not replace, tax dollars.

The Operating Fund

The Operating Fund supports the work of the Panhandle Alliance for Education, including administering the grant process, promoting and marketing the Alliance, managing the website, and so much more. So it's a great choice for those who agree that "it takes money to make money."

The Reading Program

The RPMS Reading Program is a four year comprehensive staff development project designed to significantly improve reading instruction and student achievement at all grade levels in the Lake Pend Oreille School District. This program is a partnership between the Alliance, the LPOSD and the Consortium on Reading Excellence (CORE), a nationally recognized leader in assisting school districts to improve reading and literacy instruction and student achievement.

Idaho Tax Credit ñ The bargain gift!

Since the IRS and Idaho allow you to deduct gifts to charitable organizations from personal and corporate income taxes, donating to the Panhandle Alliance is actually quite a bargain! Additionally, Idaho provides a tax "credit" for any donations made to the Alliance.1 The Idaho "credit" is available whether or not the taxpayer itemizes. It is limited to the greater of 50% of the gift or $100 for a single taxpayer, or $200 on a joint return. Corporations may take up to a $1,000 credit.

The tables below approximates the tax savings to a typical taxpayer who is in the 27% federal tax bracket, itemizes deductions, and owes at least $500 (single) and $1000 (joint return) of Idaho state tax before the state tax credit is applied.2
